Your records stay on your iPhone

Shift Ledger is a local-first app. Drives, shifts, receipts, odometer readings and photos, corrections, vehicles, and reports are stored only on your device. There is no app account, and Red Spot Creations operates no server that receives your records.

Location

Location is used only after you deliberately start a drive, to record that drive's route and distance. With background permission, a drive you started can continue recording while the phone is locked; iOS shows the location indicator whenever this happens. Finishing or discarding the drive stops location use. Location data never leaves your device.

Receipt scanning

Text recognition on receipt photos runs on your iPhone. The photo and any suggested merchant, date, or total stay in your local ledger.

Backups and exports

iCloud backup runs only when you tap "Back up now" and goes to your own iCloud account. PDF, CSV, and ZIP exports are files you create and choose where to send. Both are under your control; we never see them.

Purchases

Payments, trials, and subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We receive no card details. Apple's handling of that data is described in Apple's own privacy terms.

What we do not do

• No selling or sharing of your data. We never possess it
• No advertising, no trackers, no analytics SDKs in the app
• No account creation or sign-in required

Data deletion

Deleting the app deletes your local ledger. Settings also offers a full erase, including your iCloud backup copy if you choose.
